(Konz, Linda. “A Male Monarch on a Butterfly Bush.” 5 Basic Butterfly Behaviors to Know.)
A creature of immense beauty, a butterfly has great control as it moves from flower to flower.
A tiny, weightless creature… yet capable of so much. It darts from flower to flower with extreme control and can even migrate long distances in a calculated manner. And don’t forget, its beauty is unmistakable: intricate patterns and vivid colors are central to this creature.
A butterfly accurately symbolizes my new writerly self after nearly a semester of Culture & Expression. I am able to move from thought to thought (like a butterfly with flowers), but I have learned to do this in a way where I develop each point properly and smoothly transition to the next. Similar to a butterfly’s migration, I have expanded my thinking, reaching nuanced, under-the-surface ideas in my blog posts backed by supporting evidence. In addition, I truly believe I have grown to add an aspect of beauty to my blog: I have found a layout that appeals to my audience, and I have tried my best to take them on a journey through my writing. As a writer, I do my best to be free and explore past boundaries; thus, my title is “Borderless Butterfly.”

In my writing, I have been able to move past boundaries and have allowed myself to explore out-of-the-box ideas.
My original blog title, “An Endless Circuit Board,” represented how I relied on connections and relationships in my writing. Looking at my progress, I have continued to do this, but with greater ease, flow, and cohesiveness. My writing still includes a variety of references, analogies, and anecdotes.
So what does this mean for my readers? They will find that my blog posts focus on a central theme and end up reaching a conclusion about that theme in a controlled, step-by-step fashion. Yet they will also find that my blogs have a creative side to them – many of the topics I focus on are unique and unexpected, but have important implications in our world today. My readers will realize that I don’t stop once I have reached an “answer”; I continue to make connections and ask new questions. Finally, my readers will appreciate the significance of my images, which diversify my blog posts through meaning and beauty.
